Helping members “bet their future” on the Mile High ALA Chapter

As business partner to the Mile High ALA Chapter (Association of Legal Administrators), LAC Group participated in the group’s 2018 Business Partner Expo, held August 16 at the Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown Denver, Colorado.

While many annual meetings and conferences are theme-based, the Mile High ALA Chapter ensures its theme is prominently communicated and celebrated, including costumes, decorations and other displays. “Bet on your future with the MHC” was the theme of the 2018 show, modeled on the Kentucky Derby horse race. Many of those in attendance, including MHC members and other business partners, came in Derby attire—everything from fancy hats to jockey uniforms to jockey-on-inflatable-horseback costumes.

Yet amidst the fun, serious business discussions and educational sessions were the true stars of the conference. After adorning the booth with Derby decorations, Senior Recruiter Sharon Davis was there to discuss LAC Group’s recruiting and library services and our LibGig job board and career website dedicated to librarians and information management professionals in law and other sectors.

In addition, LAC Group sponsored a raffle of two prizes:

  • $50 VISA gift card was awarded to Mark Neighbors, Office Administrator at Hogan Lovells.
  • Bottle of Makers Mark bourbon was awarded to J. Mark Maguire, Office Administrator at Ballard Sphar.

According to Sharon,

“Law firm administrators are having to get more creative and resourceful. On the client side, there’s greater competition for business. On the staffing side, they are faced with the challenge of attracting talent in a robust employment market, where candidates are demanding higher salaries and stronger benefits packages. That’s why we support groups like the Mile High ALA Chapter. Together, we help firms understand their options for remaining competitive and protecting their bottom line.”

The Mile High ALA chapter serves over 170 management professionals in law firms, legal departments, private companies and governmental entities throughout the state of Colorado.
