Most spend management consulting firms don’t look to law librarians as potential new talent, but that’s what Chase Cost Management (CCM) did when looking to magnify the company’s bench strength in information services and resources. As a result, former researchers and law library managers Robyn Rebollo and Nicole Dupras are the newest members of CCM’s management ranks.
The library/information center is a law firm’s third highest expense —following salaries and office leases—with research subscription services being the largest line item in the category. Because AmLaw 200 firms are a key market for CCM, as well as its parent corporation LAC Group, the company made a strategic decision to find people who could make a difference in this important, yet resource-intensive, spend category for large law firms.
“Firms that excel at research have a major advantage in the practice of law, but it comes at a cost,” says Chase Cost Management (CCM) President Len Levy. “Gone are the days when the law library could subscribe to any and all research services, because gone are the days when firms could pass those expenses along to the client. Now, they must be more judicious, and nobody knows about prioritizing resources and cutting unnecessary expenses better than law librarians.”
CCM began its search for law library and information resource professionals looking no further than to parent company LAC Group. Robyn Rebollo was promoted from her role as Client Services Director at LAC Group to move to CCM as Vice President, where her focus will be on helping law firms optimize their investments and control costs for legal information resources. Previously, Ms. Rebollo served as Technical Services Manager at international law firm Dechert LLP and held senior knowledge and information management positions in legal settings in the Asia-Pacific region.
Newly hired Nicole Dupras joins CCM as Manager of Legal Research Consulting. Ms. Dupras was National Account Services Manager for cSubs, a provider of e-content, subscriptions, and knowledge resource management services, and Research Manager for Brunswick Group, where she managed a research team focused on M&A transactions, IPOs, shareholder activism, corporate data, litigation and other critical topics.
“Robyn and Nicole represent both sides of the information resource equation – the library and the information providers to libraries,” adds Mr. Levy. “Their insider knowledge will be highly valuable to our clients.”
Both Rebollo and Dupras are SLA (Special Libraries Association) members; Ms. Dupras serves on the board of SLA’s New York Chapter.
