The first frozen film preservation vault for commercial use, built by LAC Group’s PRO-TEK Vaults, was the subject of a feature story on Los Angeles’ ABC7 Eyewitness News.
Created for Paramount Pictures, this new, state-of-the-art frozen vault has the capacity to hold 500,000 Paramount films, many of them dating back to the 1950s, at a tightly-controlled temperature of 29 degrees Fahrenheit. The vault, located in Thousand Oaks, took about a year to complete.
LAC Group acquired film restoration and archiving subsidiary PRO-TEK Vaults from the Eastman Kodak Company in 2013.
